Transforming Government since 2001
Qatar Telecom (Qtel) might not be able to offer the facility of online settlement of its bills through Qatar's e-government portal but instead, may provide a link that would redirect the customer to the company's portal, Dr Nasser M Marafih, the Qtel Chief Executive Officer, said here yesterday. Dr Nasser explained that Qtel's new revenue management system was different than that deployed by the e-government and hence, it would be difficult to converge the two.

Also, Qtel is not a wholly owned company of the Qatar Government unlike the Hamad Medical Corporation, the Ministry of Interior or the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation and hence, might not be able to fully participate in the e-government portal, which offers facilities such as applying for health cards, settling of traffic violation fines, online visit visa application and settlement of utilities bill.
