The project was jointly launched by HE the Minister of State for Internal Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani, and the attorney general Dr Ali bin Muhsin bin Futas al-Murri, at a function at the public prosecution building.
Mohamed bin Ahmed al-Misnad, vice-chairman of the State Security Agency, Staff Maj Gen Saad bin Jassim al-Khulaifi, director general of public security, and other senior officers attended the function.
HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani stressed that the project of connecting the archives would ease the procedures and help to unify crime statistics and other data.
Welcoming the guests, Dr Ali bin Muhsin bin Futais al-Murri said: “The experiment of connecting the archives of Shamal Security Department and Shamal prosecution office was successful and it could be replicated at other areas”.
The attorney general stressed that the Shamal security department and Shamal prosecution office had proved the success of this experiment, and the security departments and other prosecution offices were able to implement this practice with the same rate of success.
Answering a question, the attorney general said, the next project to be implemented soon would be connecting the public prosecution with court agencies. Through this, all files will be despatched electronically from the public prosecutor to the judge concerned in the court.
The person concerned in the case would be the first beneficiary of this new technology, he said.
Col Nasser Jaber al-Nuaimi, director of Shamal Security Department, said the project was implemented in collaboration with the e-government.
Saud Abdullah al-Shafi, head of Shamal prosecution, said the public prosecution at Shamal, since its establishment in 2003, had used the latest technologies in easing procedures. The Shamal prosecution implemented the electronic archives system in 2004.
