The development would ensure that the building permits are issued without unprecedented delays, said acting director of the e-government project, Hashim Al Sada.
Addressing a press conference yesterday, he said his department was presently coordinating with 13 government bodies to make the above service available. Efforts are also being made to popularise an e-government service whereby students can be enrolled in government schools. "The service is not being utilised currently but we are coordinating with the education ministry to make it popular," said Hashim.
Mai Mohamed Mansour, administration and finance manager of e-government project, Haytham Abduljawad, programme executive manager, Amar Zidane, marketing assistant, and Mazin Thabet, business development coordinator, were present at the press meet.
Hashim said there was an almost five-fold increase in the use of e-government services for different purposes in August this year as compared to the corresponding month last year.
Consumers have also begun paying their utility bills using the electronic government services, he said.
