Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi Monday emphasized that E-governance should be promoted for transparency and efficiency. The prime minister chaired a meeting on the Ministry of Information and Technology (IT) affairs. Minister for IT Ms Anusha Rehman briefed the prime minister about the roadmap towards digitization process aimed at human resource development in IT sector, facilitating citizens in accessing basic facilities and government services, ensuring transparency and good governance. The prime minister appreciated the efforts of IT ministry towards digitization and strengthening of IT sector in the country and said that information and technology was the future.

Topic: BOI to facilitate ease of doing business

The Board of Investment (BOI) is prioritizing to provide ease of doing business for enhancing the industrial cooperation with foreign countries in Special Economic Zones (SEZs). Spokesman of Board of Investment (BOI) Shah Jahan said we are committed for smart regulation, simplified procedure and competitive costs in consultation with ministry of finance and related institutions for providing facilities in SEZs. BOI is working on reform agenda for smart regulation for providing conducive environment for investors in the country. He said that through these reforms, industrialization would promote and maintain trade balance in the country.

Topic: LCCI, SPFC to promote investments in forestry

The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) and South Punjab Forest Company (SPFC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday to promote investment in forestry sector of south Punjab and will also highlight forestry opportunities offered by the Government of Punjab. The consensus was made at a consultative session at the LCCI headquarters with LCCI President Abdul Basit, Senior Vice President Amjad Ali Jawa, SPFC CEO Tahir Rasheed in attendance. The SPFC was established as a public sector company with a mandate to stimulate private sector investment alongside public money towards reducing deforestation in Punjab and to combine forest conservation with sustainable economic development.

Topic: Pakistani nationals emerge as third largest investor in Dubai's real estate market

Pakistan has emerged as the third largest real estate investor in Dubai, reveals Dubai Land Department (DLD), citing a data spanning 18 months from January 2016 to June 2017. Pakistani nationals have made 5,398 real estate transactions pumping about AED7 billion in Dubai's real estate sector. The DLD released the list of top 10 nations that invested in the city's real estate sector. Indian citizens followed with about AED20.4bn through 10,628 transactions

Topic: Imports of mobile phone surge 48pc

The mobile phone imports surged by 48.41 per cent to $68.57 million during the first month of this fiscal year compared to $46.20m last in July 2016, according to the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). However, the imports declined by 4.89pc in July when compared to $72.54m in June, the data revealed. Overall telecom imports soared by 53.53pc to $114.01m compared to $74.26m in July 2016.
