The Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Dr.Umar Saif recently launched electronic stamp paper calling it as historic milestone achieved by Punjab government. Gujranwala became the first city to have an e-stamp paper of over Rs. 1000/-value. This development was revealed in a meeting held at Arfa Software Technology Park.

During the meeting it was claimed that after the successful launch of e-stamp paper in Gujrawala, it would be soon replicated in all the cities of Punjab. With this development, Dr. Saif also made convenience for the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif who was concerned about the fake printing of large valued stamp papers and the fraud found thereafter particularly in case of selling or buying the land properties. To curb this problem, the Minister was planing to develop ICT system to overcome these shortcomings and PITB with the help of BoR turned this dream into a reality.

The system of getting e-stamp paper has became so convenient that now a citizen desiring a stamp paper only have to fill an online application form (32-A Challan), print it and go to the nearby BoP branch from where he will find a printed Non- Judicial stamp paper.

During the meeting, Dr.Saif paid special tribute to the Commissioner Gujranwala Division Capt. Muhammad Asif and DCO Aamir Jan for their keen interest in making e-Stamping a success. He also appreciated the role PITB, Board of Revenue Punjab (BoR), Finance Department Punjab, Bank of Punjab (BoP) and State Bank of Pakistan for making the dream come true.
