“Making our new generation skilful according to the needs of the market is a challenge. My government is taking all possible steps for the promotion of technical education, despite its limited resources. A challenge can be met in a better way by promoting public-private partnership. For this, a coordinated programme should be evolved for the promotion of technical education in Punjab and this programme should be implemented speedily.”
The CM observed that promotion of modern education and making skilful to young generation for the development and prosperity of the country was need of the hour, and Pakistan was one of those lucky countries, where majority of population consisted of youth.
The chief minister directed the CS to convene a meeting of all technical institutions including the Tevta, PVTC, Punjab Small Industries Corporation and Education Department in which recommendations with regard to evolving a coordinated system should be formulated for promotion of technical education and steps should be taken for promotion of public private partnership. He also directed that a plan should also be formulated for introducing biometrics system for ensuring attendance and punctuality in hospitals, educational institutions and other organisations. (Biometrics is the science and technology of measuring and analyzing biological data. In information technology, biometrics refers to technologies that measure and analyze human body characteristics, such as DNA, fingerprints, eye retinas and irises, voice patterns, facial patterns and hand measurements, for authentication purposes.) While giving approval to IT training for enhancing the efficiency of officers and officials and improving the performance of government departments, he directed that final shape should be given to a programme at the earliest and Chairman Planning & Development Board should be consulted in this regard. He added that he wanted such a system for promotion of technical education through implementation of which young generation could be made skilful at the earliest. Earlier, Faisal Ijaz, while informing about the details of steps taken for the promotion of technical education, disclosed that eight new vocational training institutes had been set up and technical educational institutions had also been completed in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rahim Yar Khan with the cooperation of philanthropists. He mentioned that the PVTC was imparting training to youth in Livestock, Dairy Development, Tunnel Farming, Managers and Heavy Vehicle Operators.
