Transforming Government since 2001
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) of the Philippines launched a website and a mobile application to give users easy access to information and frequently asked questions about the elections next month.

The website and app, both named ‘E-Leksyon 2013’, aim to inform and empower voters for both national and local elections. They offer information about common election violations that citizens should be aware of, such as prohibited campaigning and unlawful forms of election propaganda.

Citizens can also report violations of these rules through the website and app, and attach images to support their report. Comelec will send a validation code to the users to verify their identities.

E-Leksyon 2013 also offers a sample ballot for people to practice voting. The website and app were developed in collaboration with Bitoopi, a group of programmes from telecom provider Smart Communications.

The app will also work in areas with mobile reception or internet availability, allowing users to save reports and send them later. The app is currently only available for Apple devices, but an Android version is in the works.
