Mayor Herbert Bautista said the city government has partnered with the University of the Philippines (UP) in establishing a web-based health record management system in the 72 Quezon City health center facilities composed of health centers, lying-in clinics, social hygiene centers and microscopy centers.
UP, through National Tele-Health Center (NTHC), is CHITS’ service and maintenance provider.
A memorandum of agreement between Bautista and UP President Alfredo Pascual will be signed to formalize the implementation of the city’s e-Health program.
“This year, Quezon City moves one step towards the goal of participative governance where citizens interact in ensuring services, transparency and development of the city,” Bautista said.
Bautista noted that Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte-Alimurung, city health officer Dr. Antonieta V. Inumerable, UP – Manila chancellor Dr. Ramon L. Arcadio and UP – NTHC director Dr. Portia Fernandez-Marcelo were invited as witnessing signatories.
“With this innovation, QC health workers will have more time for service delivery,” said Inumerable, adding that the computerization of city health records will prove vital in monitoring trends in the spread of communicable diseases in Quezon City.
“Magkakaroon na po tayo ng early intervention para sa ganitong mga karamdaman (We can now conduct preventive measures in this types of diseases),” Inumerable said.
Authored by Councilor Precious Hipolito Castelo, an ordinance providing for the computerization of all Quezon City health centers has been approved by the 26-member council early this year. The measure also underscored the importance of establishing a computer-based health records to facilitate the easy retrieval of records of patients seeking consultation in the city’s health care facilities.
