Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is implementing projects to bring comfort to Lagosians, General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA), Mrs Bisoye Coker-Odusote, has said.

She spoke at a briefing to announce this year’s stakeholders’ conference: Transforming Lagos State into a Smart City Hub in Africa: The Government’s Infrastructure Approach.

The conference will hold in October at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island.

Mrs Coker-Odusote was joined by Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Smart City City, Afolarin Cole; LASIMRA Secretary, Ms. Ayobami Abiola, among others.

She said the state requires infrastructural development to meet the Smart City challenge.

Mrs Coker-Odusote noted that the installation of fibre optic cables was part of the Fibre Metro Network connection to aid the Smart City Programme.

The LASIMRA chief said COVID-19 taught the world to be abreast with technological advancement.

“COVID-19 exposed the level of technology we have in place. Mr Governor is moving faster to ensure Lagosians benefit from this technology breakthrough.

‘’For something to happen, you must have certain technologies in place and infrastructure is the bedrock. If infrastructure is not in place then application cannot work.

‘’What encompasses a mega city and smart city is infrastructure. The health and energy infrastructure that is in place determines how we can save energy. Lagos State is growing and we will get there,” she said.
