e-Government Excellence Awards 2014 jury announced the completion of the evaluation process of the award’s participating projects.

Excellence Award winners will be honoured by the Deputy Premier and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa, during the official opening of the Bahrain International e-Government Forum, to be held under his patronage on April 21, 2014.

Over 700 e-Government experts are expected to attend this year’s forum.

The seven-member jury, chaired by Mr. Jeremy Millard, hailed the increasing number of participations which exceeded 200 projects.

The panel will prepare reports on the 204 participating projects.

The award is granted in three main categories

The “Government Sector” awards include the Best e-Content, Best e-Service, Best e-Project and Best e-Participation, the “Multi-sector” awards include the Best Application for Smart Devices, e-Economy, e-Entrepreneur and e-NGO, and the “Citizen” awards include the Best e-Concept and e-Citizen.

Three new categories were created this year. They include the Best App for Smart Devices (Multi-Sector). This Award is granted for the benefit of public or private sector organizations which provide high-tech applications for smart devises in order to ensure that level of service delivery can be optimized with a core focus on cost effectiveness for less time and effort needed to carry out an operation or a full range of operations by sharing information and carrying out transactions.

The second new award, the e-Entrepreneur Award (Multi Sector), is granted for entrepreneurs as founders of small ITC focused businesses, together with an innovative approach to play a part in business development and growth on an international scale.

The third one, the e-Participation Award, has been added to the (Government Sector). It targets the executing government bodies that make best use of social media and seek to ensure continuous communication with the public with a view to improving levels of service delivery and decision-making.
