Transforming Government since 2001
The countdown has already began for the fifth edition of the annual Bahrain International e-Government Forum set to be held under the patronage of Deputy Premier and President of the Supreme Committee for Information and Communication Technology Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Kahlifa from April 8 to 11. The event is organized by the e-Government Authority, in co-ordination with the Bahrain Society of Engineers (BSE), the Bahrain Internet Society (BIS) and Project Management Institute - Arabian Gulf Chapter.

During the opening ceremony on April 9, the winners of the e-Government Excellence Awards 2012 will also be announced and honoured by Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak.

A total of 22 e-government experts from South Korea, the UK, Estonia, Japan, Belgium, Turkey, Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, Egypt, Jordan, the US and Colombia will be the key speakers of the event.

International organisations such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will also attend.

This year's edition aims to explore the cutting-edge development concepts in the field of information and communication technology (ICT), and will enable experts to share experiences and expertise, in addition to developing ICT in Bahrain across various sectors.

The forum will also seek to act as a trigger for public and private sector as well as non-governmental organisations and look at providing solutions for their ICT needs, which will contribute to their development and help in supporting Bahrain's economy.

As well as providing an ideal environment to exchange information, experiences and expertise in the field of ICT, the forum will also create investment opportunities to develop technology in Bahrain, in line with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.

While the forum will open on April 9, the accompanying IT expo will open for the public on April 10 and 11.
