Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that the Smart City work will be completed before monsoon. He said that the target is to complete ongoing work by March 31 in view of the G20 summit.

Sawant said that the government wants to replace the entire sewerage line in Panaji. “Till date we have replaced 60 per cent and the remaining 40 per cent will be completed soon. There will be a new utility duct,” he said.

Sawant said that the sewerage work has been stopped and the Smart City work is on, but it will be completed before the onset of monsoon.

The chief minister said that during the ongoing work, people are bound to face hardships. Sawant said that till the work is done, shop owners should desist from parking their cars in Panaji.

Sawant along with Panaji MLA and Revenue Minister Atanasio ‘Babush’ Monserrate reviewed the smart city works. Sawant informed that a parallel sewerage line has been laid in the city besides a new storm water drain.

“Drain dating back to the Portuguese era has been expanded to 3 ft from 1 ft and it will be connected to the river,” he said.
