Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh has stressed the need to implement e-governance, thereby allowing officials to perform their duties from any place at any point in time.

The chief minister said that this will greatly aid in the implementation of efficient and smooth governance in the state.

The state government even distributed laptops to its officials recently for this purpose.

“Distributed laptops to officers of Government of Manipur as part of the implementation of e-office in the State. The officers are being encouraged to execute their duties from anywhere anytime to provide a smooth, transparent and efficient governance in Manipur,” N Biren Singh tweeted.

Moreover, the Manipur government also launched an e-government receipt accounting system (e-GRS) portal, allowing the payment of taxes and fees from any place at any time.

People can avail of the e-GRAS service by logging into the Manipur government’s official website ‘egrasmanipur.nic.in.’

Although the State Bank of India (SBI) will provide its various payment gateways for the payment of taxes, the state government will gradually expand this service to other banks in the future.

Payment of professional taxes (PT) and value added tax (VAT) will be made available on e-GRAS in the initial stage.
