Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said that the State government will link all the public schools in the state by introducing a comprehensive e-governance programme, with the aim of elevating the schools to international standards.

Inaugurating the renovation works of Govt HSS at Chala here on Saturday, after the Rs 21-crore master plan for this was approved by the government, the chief minister also said that the government will introduce a project to digitise the school libraries to improve their standards.

With the project to elevate the government schools to international standards, the government wants to make sure that our children also have the academic standards to take on the students from any great school in the world, said the chief minister, who added that the project will transform our schools to 'centres of excellence'.

He also said the service of the alumni of the schools should be utilised and they should be made part of its development. We have the facilities to interact with the old students wherever they are and hence the school authorities should also give attention in this regard, he suggested.

Later, the chief minister also inaugurated the hi-tech classrooms at Kottayam Rajas High School in Pathiriyad in the district, with the aim of elevating the school to international standards.
