National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Kohima has commenced conducting “ICT skill training program for state government employees” under the theme “preparing northeast for digital India”, Thursday. Delivering a keynote address, director in-charge NIELIT Kohima, Er. Lanuwabang mentioned that the training program was part of the ongoing nationwide Digital India initiatives, with the objective to fill the ICT skill gaps and enhance capacity building in NE.

As the training was to be imparted to government employees of state departments by NIELIT Kohima, he urged the trainees for sincere participation, given the present day-need for trained and dedicated employees on e-Governance for better citizen-centric services through good governance.

Altogether, 40 trainees representing 10 departments make up the current, first batch and the training will continue till April 22. Subsequent batch-wise trainings would follow thereafter. Under this program, the targeted number of government employees to be trained is 1300.

The program is being undertaken in association with National e-Governance Division (NeGD) Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, government of India and department of IT & C, Nagaland.
