In keeping with chief minister Devendra Fadnavis 'mantra' of "no celebration, only communication," divisional commissioner Anoop Kumar on completion of the BJP-led government's one year in office listed the achievements.

Rapid strides towards making the city educational hub of Central India, exceeding revenue collection target last fiscal and on course to meet this year's, massive water network revival through Jalyukta Shivar, e-governance in all but one of the six districts were highlights of the performance in the year for the division, said Kumar.

"Revenue mobilization is our prime task and in 2014-15 Nagpur revenue division comprising six districts of Nagpur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli garnered Rs457.29 crore as against target of Rs430.98 crore or 106% of the target. This year we are on course to meet target of Rs532.89 crore," said Kumar.

E-auction of sand ghats helped in increasing revenue in a major way as over Rs240 crore was collected through minor minerals. Similarly, Kumar said e-governance was total and land records through internal portals were available in all districts except Gondia where availability of a server and proper computerisation of land records needed to be sorted out.

The progress in education field was impressive in the division with IIM being set up at temporary location and 200 acres land being allotted for it at Dahegaon in Mihan area. For the proposed Indian Institute of Information Technology 100 acres was made available at Varanga, 121 acres at Dhuti for Power Research Institute and 200 acres for the proposed All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Mihan area. Revenue land was also earmarked for KG to PG education facility dedicated to tribals, National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Nagpur Metro Rail project and K K Kalidas Sanskrit University. Once all these plans materialise, Nagpur will emerge as an educational hub, he said.

In Aadhaar registrations, the division has topped in the state. Of the 3675 gram panchayats in the division, only 206 had become open defecation free (ODF). The remaining villages and 5.4 lakh households without a toilet will be provided the basic facility by 2019 in a planned way, Kumar said.

Wardha is the district with most farmer suicide cases — 116 this year, almost half of the 254 in the division. Gadchiroli, the poorest and most backward district has not recorded any. Kumar said he would suggest to task force head Kishore Tiwari to study this phenomenon.
