The Digital India Programme will upgrade the standard of government schools and their students, said District Collector M G Rajamanickam here on Tuesday.

The was speaking after inaugurating the valedictory function of the Digital India Week celebrations. Under the Digital India programme, jointly organised by the State It Mission and the Akshaya project, various competitions were held for educational institutions in the district. Earlier in the day, Rajamanickam inaugurated the Inter-school IT Quiz at Government Girls Higher Secondary School here. “With the help of updated technology, the public can access the majority of the services offered by the government online. By introducing ‘e-governance’, delivery of essential services has become transparent, enabling users to avail them with more ease,” said the Collector. Digital India Programme district coordinator Sivaraman said regional activities to implement the Digital India project in the district was progressing. The project will be interlinked with the Jyothy Project implemented by the Collector for welfare of the students.

Under the Digital Locker facility, which was also introduced among the students, the public can save copies of their certificates digitally using the Aadhaar number, for future use.
