  • State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan starts to provide e-services

    The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan has begun to provide electronic services, announced on Friday head of the department of the Data Dissemination of State Committee on Statistics Mary Amirova said at the presentation of an interactive system for obtaining statistical data on Friday.

    Works are carried out in accordance with the decree of the President of Azerbaijan On some measures in the field of provision of electronic services by public authorities on May 23, 2011.

    Regulations for each e-service provided by the State Committee are approved and registered by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies of Azerbaijan.

  • Strategic plan of ICT development in industry drafted in Azerbaijan

    The Commission on ICT of Azerbaijan Entrepreneurs’ Confederation has started preparing a strategic plan of ICT development in the country's industry, Chairman of the Commission Ismail Alakbarov said on November 3.

    He told that the opportunity to offer Azerbaijani IT-products to the international market is an important component of this strategy.

  • Successful development of e-services in Azerbaijan draws interest from abroad

    Successful development of electronic services in Azerbaijan attracts the interest of other countries, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technologies Elmir Velizade said on July 12 prior to a public hearing on the draft state program on the development of e-services and e-government in 2013-2015.

    "The process of e-government formation is continuing in the country and progress has been made. Moreover, this attracts interest from abroad. Specifically, a broad delegation from Afghanistan which visited Azerbaijan recently took an active interest in Azerbaijan's experience in this area," Velizade said.

    Labor and Social Protection Ministry of Azerbaijan starts application of electronic services in the sphere of disability group determination.

    The Ministry reports that e-services will be applied in medical social expert commissions.

    "To apply e-services in this sphere , material technical base of relevant bodies is currently being strengthened",- the report says.

  • Terminals for population’s use of state electronic services open in Azerbaijan

    The National Action Programme on Increase of Human Rights and Freedom Protection approved by President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan specifies the terms of full switching to provision of state electronic services.

    Under the Action Programme, in 2012 Communication and Information Technologies Ministry should fully commission e-government portal, provide state bodies with electronic signature. In 2012-13 central executive power bodies of Azerbaijan should ensure provision of electronic services.

  • The seminars under E-Government State Programme held for Azerbaijan Republic Ministry of Culture

    Analysis and Software Department of Azerbaijan Republic Ministry of Culture held the seminars in Azerbaijani regions under E-Government State Programme.

    The Ministry informed that the seminars were held to apply information technologies in regional (city) departments of Ministry of Culture and Tourism for their readiness for E-Government State Programme.

  • The third Azerbaijani bank introduced lending on the basis of e-reference

    The third Azerbaijani bank introduced lending on the basis of e-reference provided by the e-government portal (e-gov.az).

    According to the Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, the relevant agreement has been signed between the AccessBank and the Data Processing Center operating under the Ministry.

    The services on issue of e-references will be available in the Bank’s central office and branches.

  • Three-fourths of Azerbaijan's population use Internet

    Azerbaijanis are among the most active Internet users among the Asian nations, a report of the Internet World Stats organization revealed.

    The study shows that level of Internet penetration in Azerbaijan, with a population of over 9.8 million, amounts to 75.5 percent. Thus, the number of the country’s Internet users exceeds 7,531 million people.

  • Time spent on business registration in Azerbaijan shortened to 2 minutes

    Baku hosts presentation of the system of on-line registration of individuals engaged in entrepreneurial activities without establishing a legal entity.

    Deputy tax minister Natig Amirov informs that via the system individual entrepreneur, without losing time on a visit to tax authorities, will be registered in the Tax Internet Department through web user code and password.

  • To date Azerbaijan has activated 152 e-state services

    52 out of 395 e-services on the Azerbaijani governmental agencies’ official websites have been activated on portal "e-government".

    A spokesman of the Ministry of Communications & IT says that the rest 243 are not included in the list of activated services of "e-government" portal.

    In accord with the Cabinet Ministers-endorsed List of e-Services today it is provided 282 e-services of 44 governmental agencies.

  • Training Center for E-Government to be established in Azerbaijan

    Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has sent an expert group to Azerbaijan within the framework of the “Project on Establishment of Training Center for E-Government”.

    Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies told APA-Economics that the Korean experts will be in Baku by March 7, will meet with their Azerbaijani colleagues at the Ministry and discuss a number of issues regarding the project.

  • Uganda Partners with Azerbaijan to Replicate 'One Stop Centre' Service Delivery Model

    >The government of Azerbaijan is partnering with Uganda to replicate the ASAN Xidmat, an e-Government system known to have improved public service delivery efficiency in countries like Azerbaijan and Afghanistan.

    Azerbaijan Service and Assessment Network (ASAN Xidmat) also known as “ASAN service” centers are “one-stop shop”-based locations that bring together representatives of 11 government entities and private companies providing services in a public-private partnership.

  • UN recognizes Azerbaijan 96th country in world on e-government rate

    The United Nations has published its latest E-Government Survey 2012: E-Government for the People.

    According to the UN findings, Azerbaijan holds 96th place with index value of 0.4984 among the 106 countries surveyed. At that, the country received an index at 0.3660 on online service, 0.3033 on telecommunications infrastructure, and 0.8259 on human capital components.

    South Korea proved to be the world leader - 0.9283 (online services - 1, telecommunications infrastructure - 0.8356, human capital - 0.9494), the 2nd is the Netherlands - 0.9125 (0.9608; 0.8342; 0.9425 respectively), the 3rd is the United Kingdom - 0.8960 (0.9739; 0.8135; 0.907). The fourth place belongs to Denmark - 0.889 (0.8562; 0.8615; 0.9489), and the U.S. closes TOP 5 - 0.8687 (1; 0.6860; 0.902).

  • Use of e-licensing of insurers begins in Azerbaijan

    The Azerbaijan Ministry of Finance plans to begin providing e-services to insurers by the end of the year.

    Deputy head of the State Insurance Supervision Service under the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan Mahir Abdullayev informs that the Service has already developed a suitable legal basis for starting e-services.

    "The documents have been developed and submitted to the appropriate state agencies for approval. After their approval the Service will start receiving e-applications for obtaining a license for provision of insurance services in the country," Abdullayev said.

  • Use of e-signature launched for Azerbaijani customs operations

    Foreign trade participants can now use a digital signature for customs operations in Azerbaijan. As head of Statistics and Information Technologies Department of the State Customs Committee (SCC) Iqbal Babayev told journalists, an electronic signature has been used in customs operations for a month.

    "As a result of introducing the e-signature, paperwork has significantly reduced," Babayev said.

    As head of SCC Aydin Aliyev told Trend earlier, an electronic payment system in the customs service of Azerbaijan will be developed and used in 2013.

    Mobile operator Azercell has made a statement about the women’s role in ICT of Azerbaijan.

  • World Bank approves a loan for Real Estate Project in Azerbaijan

    The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors approved a US$ 30 million IBRD loan for the Real Estate Registration Project for the Republic of Azerbaijan.

    The objective of the project is to ensure a reliable, transparent and efficient real estate registration system to improve both the legal security for real estate and the management and use of State-owned immovable property in the country.

  • World Bank Supports Armenia’s Tax Administration to Improve Business Climate and Competitiveness

    The World Bank ’s Board of Executive Directors approved a US$12 million credit for the Tax Administration Modernization Project (TAMP) for Armenia.

    As the World Bank reported, the Project will support the State Revenue Committee (SRC) to modernize its business processes, expand the use of e-governance including electronic filing of tax returns, and introduce a more targeted, risk-based compliance strategy, based on voluntary compliance.
